Tzaneng Treated Timbers is based in Tzaneen, Limpopo Province, South Africa. The Du Plessis family started commercial timber treatment in 1992 and established Tzaneng Treated Timbers in 2001. With over 21 year’s experience in the forestry and timber industry, they are one of the leaders in the Southern Africa utility pole market. The company is currently headed by Riaan du Plessis, who is also an active member of the South African Utility Pole Association’s Technical Committee and other working groups.

Tzaneng supplies creosote-treated wooden poles both locally and abroad. We have shown consistent growth since 2001. In the foreign markets, we serve customers in Botswana, Namibia, Mozambique, Zambia, Malawi, Lesotho, Swaziland, Tanzania, Angola and Kenya. We’ve also supplied Power Distribution Companies such as Botswana Power Corporation, Nampower (Namibia), and EDM (Mozambique), LEC (Lesotho). We have supplied to foreign electrical contractors such as ABB, Siemens, Eltel, Grinaker-LTA and Powerline 2000. We have developed sustained favourable relationships with suppliers, distribution companies and customers both locally and internationally.

We can produce approximately 30’000 treated poles of various lengths and diameters per month. Transmission and telephone poles treated by Tzaneng comply with relevant SABS, ESKOM and international quality standards. Poles can also be provided according to specific customer requirements, specifications and standards. Our facilities comply and are accredited by the ISO 9001:2000 quality management system. Our products and facilities currently comply with DISSCAAD7 rev 12B specification for creosote treated wood poles, cross-arms and spacer blocks.

Our delivery lead times vary according to the sizes of poles, quantities and contractual requirements. Factory lead times vary between 2 and 4 weeks.
